In another of it's proud "here's a non-issue story that will generate arguments and drive up internet traffic" stories, ESPN has ranked all the D-1 college football programs according to their performance over the last ten years.
Maryland came in 36th. This is sad, because had we lost an extra game or two I could make an excellent Clerks reference here. "Our football team sucks..." you get the idea. Anyway, 36 ain't bad, considering the previous decade would have seen us at, what, 85? We're above some pretty solid programs - we, ahem, really stuck it to the Beavers - but hey, 36th is still 36th.
Duke should have been lower - it's a travesty they're only 115 out of 119. They're one of only two programs NATIONALLY with a ten-year win percentage below 20. Duke sucks.
Well, it looks like even Nature is getting in on the act with the Simpsons movie, with two short articles in their News Section:

Served! Served! Served! Served!
I guess this is pretty cool. I'm glad they used a back shot, presumably of him waving to the crowd when he set the games record, instead of one of those cheesy "I'm smiling so I can run for Governor in 15 years" photos.

It does kinda look like he's calling a shot, though, since he was such a fierce power hitter and all.
If I lived in Maryland, and didn't hate all things baseball not equal to "getting sloshed in a cool park on a nice day," and ever wanted a special tag for my car, and flipped a coin that somehow eliminated something with Testudo on it, I might consider this.
You think they gave him first dibs on the numbers 2131 and 2632? Has John already called about one of those?
Actually, I thought this article was somewhat lacking, and they repeatedly refer to it simply as "Kent." Either way, this appeared in the Post.
Well, just to fill in some of that white space...
A few of the writers of blogs I check regularly have been going to a site to have their blogs rated on the same scale as movies. I don't trust that rating system, because here's what it gave for this site:
The only rationale it gave was finding 1 occurence of the word "hell."
The site is blank. I thought these two videos were pretty funny.
So after a few days aboard a Navy destroyer , I have arrived at my next destination - Hong Kong. I just got into my ridiculously opulent room, and I'm really hoping my "Deluxe Harbor View" upgrade gets by the finance people. I'll upload more when night falls because apparently it looks really nice.
Until then, I'm going to enjoy my room while I wait for my laundry ($44 USD for two days worth of clothes...).
The site for the movie has links for creating a simpsons rendering of yourself, among other things.
So it's no Havertown pub crawl, but I'm managing to have an okay time in Okinawa. It took about 27 hours to get to the hotel from BWI, which wasn't too bad ($11,000 tickets this time). I'm spending all day here today because I had to do my midterm for the class I'm taking now. I finished up a little while ago, and then decided to go for a walk. It turns out that aside from fancy toilets and seedless watermelon, the Japanese have also invented 200% humidity. I'm now safely back in the confines of the hotel, where I may be stuck for the night - I'm not exactly 'downtown', and there's no mass transit, and cabs are very expensive. But, I think this is one of the nicer hotels, and it has a bar with a great view of the harbor, so it might be fun.
This is my view from the 4th floor - the hotel is basically on the top of a mountain. Which made the walk back from the beach extra fun.

I don't know how much all this rain has been making the national news, but here's what my backyard looks like:
Don't worry, it still had several more feet to go before it got to our house. More info is available at my blog.
Someone go to Bladensburg and get me a box of Krusty-Os. I'll pay you back for the box and the shipping. I want one on my Shelf of Cool Shit.
I am totally serious.
