Apparently Redskins fans, and NFL fans in general like to have a drink or 10 before the game. From HBO Real Sports. Part 1 & Part 2
Posted by John at January 23, 2008 06:28 PMI'm with Mike on this one. I wouldn't take a kid to the games we went to. Maybe it isn't always like that - they were Sunday night games, it was a divisional rivalry game, lots of Philly fans were there (I suspect the atmosphere at a Redskins-Chiefs game would be quite a bit different). But I suspect it's pretty much the same.
One thing I'll add to Mike's story about an older fan being pushed to the ground between the seats: it wasn't a "your team sucks issue", both the older guy and his attackers were Redskins fans.
Posted by: roy at January 25, 2008 12:21 PMSome vicious shit has been screamed at amazingly inappropriate volume at Eddie George in the corner of Ravens endzone. I can't imagine who would do such a thing. One time he heard me, and looked up. Remember that time he cried after a playoff loss? Baby bitch.
I love the way the whole stadium screams "SUCKS" after every opponents' intro...never seen that outside of Balmer and the good ol' days of UMD.
One time, being drunk off my ass at a Ravens game with my uncle, when the cheerleaders came out my mouth went, "god I love sluts." The two girls in front of us turned to laugh, so I spent the next quarter trying to get them to come out with us after the game. I probably ruined their weekend.
I've peed on lots of concrete and brick in the 1/8th mile east and north of M&T Bank stadium.
I hooked a college professor up with tickets once. He was my African American Studies prof, and this was I think my 3rd class with him. He was big on class relations, race interactions, etc. It was the Ravens game where they came back to beat the Seahawks having been down like 30 in the 4th quarter. The next day in class he talked for the whole hour about how "everyone was hugging everybody, rich and poor, black and white," so it isn't all bad.
Basically, shit goes down at football games. I've never seen seen anything, though, that would make me not want to take a kid (of at least 8, I guess) to a game, because hopefully he/she would understand good behavior from bad. And that there are times and places to tell Titans players to eat dick.
