Ridiculous

This is one of the stupider things I've seen in a while. I blame Mike. Soon, the standings will all just look like this:

LEAGUE STANDINGS
Team Win Loss Tie
JC Warner 0 0 12
Chesapeake Vets 0 0 12
Bay Carpets 0 0 12
Movieland 0 0 12
Geohring Printing 0 0 12

Play Ball! (nicely)

I believe dodgeball has been outlawed in CA schools. As in, by the state legislature. Why? Kids might get their feelings hurt. Aww. It's such horsecrap, how else are slow kids gonna learn to get out of the way of fast things. Most kids don't listen when you tell them the stove is hot, they have to put their hand on it. Dodgeball is the hot stove of K-12 sports. We are raising a feel-good nation of overweight Xbox superstars, just in time for them to try to fight off China. We're fucked.

Other news:

- If I stay in CA, I may try to start a WAKA-style dodgeball league. I am not optimistic that a school will let us use the facilities, though, especially since I'm sure there will be a bunch of beer cans littering the gym floor the next morning.

- I like how Pat ranked Geohring Printing last, even though everyone had the same fictional record. And it fills me with pride to see JC Warner at the top of the list...memories of the year we were beasts, and went to the state playoffs where some kid from Arbutus threw like 15 strikeouts thanks to his 70+ mph fastball. I had one of our team's two hits, a lucky bloop single over the 1B's head.

- One of my favorite little league memories was this one time I came up against Pat pitching. I was hitting really good that year (same year for JC Warner, where me, Danny Jost, and Brian Parker hit 3-4-5) and Pat was a good pitcher. And a friend. So, I felt my entire 12-year-old manliness was on the line...and if I got burned, I'd never hear the end of it. I was about to shit butterflies. So Pat winds up...and here comes a 4 mph, physics-defyingly-slow chunk of cheese. Now that I really remember it, I believe Pat may have actually walked up and set up a tee. Anyway, I jacked the hell out of it for another of my famous triples (famous, because people - parents - actually made train noises when I ran the bases, as in "unhook your caboose." Seriously. I am so slow. Since there was no fence in the outfield, home runs had to be ran out...I did that once, when I hit the ball to the picnic table way out in center). So, I still owe Pat one for that phatty knock to his ERA. Good lookin' out, Daddy.

Hey, no problem. We (Geohring Printing) were never good. Of course I put JC Warner first, you guys always won. What was the yellow team, I can't remember their name so I used my senior league team name (Movieland). Was it Rosendale Realty?

If you didn't play in K.I.L.L. (Kent Island Little League), I apologize for this moment of nostalgia.

I think the mayor of the Nati must have started this thing to keep his feelings from getting hurt.

I remeber Rosendale Realty as a maize/gold with black trim...am I right?

Oh, wasn't it just me and you in KILL? Nate never played baseball, John was in Grasonville (right?), Rick and Fatboy were making out on the western shore, Chad was memorizing the home addresses of ACC refs, Roy was in PA, and ChrisB was surrendering to strangers on the street. So yeah, KI baseball is all me and you. I'm fine with that.

- Mike was on Chespeake Vets (right fielder... ball to the face).

- John was on Geohring Printing with me.

Well then, I am an idiot. I can't remember Mike or John playing at all, though I do recall the ball-in-face story.

My little league career:
Bears T-ball, where I was on the cover of the Bay Times with my name mispelled. It looks like I am trying to hit the ball with a telephone pole, I can barely get the bat off the ground.
Big Daddy's (I think) with Mr. Mitch. Or was it Mr. Schindler? Or was that t-ball. I dunno.
Goehring Printing with Mr. Mitch
Fisherman's Inn (I think) with Worm's Dad, mostly in Grasonville.

I think the last three all had the same color scheme, red shirt with blue trim. I had to put safety pins on all my baseball pants so they wouldn't fall off.

Miscellaneous fall and summer leagues in late middle school and high school based out of queenstown and centreville.
Scouting Report: Good glove, not so good stick.

My little league career - one season of tee-ball playing for Chestmont Carpet. Yellow uniforms with white lettering (yeah - that was easy to read). We went undefeated all season until the last game, which we lost by one run. Still, since there were no playoffs in tee-ball, we won the league, and I still have the plaque. Then again, we had these two kids on our team, Jason Fox and Jason something or other (holy shit I can't believe I remember their names) who were probably two years older than everybody else in the league and like a foot taller. Why they both got put on the same team, and why they were even allowed to play in the league, I don't know. Anyway, I started playing soccer at the same time, so that was it for my tee-ball/little league career.
