Per the following drunken conversation with John, I am posting an interesting link.
John: arenas is a walking superlative
you should post that hip hop thing on terrapin tables
gas face seemed relatively early
also, I have been drinking
Following those orders - and I'm comfortable in calling them orders, as they were delivered with the precision and decisiveness of a General - here is said link, the entire history of hip-hop, 800 songs, mixed together chronologically in one 40-minute mp3, "1979-2006: A Hip Hop Odyssey." Enjoy.

Amongst other things, this list reveals that I am growing out of touch with more contemporary hip-hop.
I agree...I was amazed that when we got to "the good stuff" like Wu-Tang and Talib Kweli there was still iike ten to twelve minutes of this mix left...and there was a disproportionate amount of Kanye West in there.
Posted by: Chris at January 11, 2007 06:11 PMIts like the Power Hour DVD's... Except somehow different.
So who is up for 800 shots in 40 minutes?
Posted by: Chad at January 12, 2007 11:00 AMthis is awesome. it reminds me how much i prefer the older stuff - when hip-hop and related genres were telling stories - to the newer stuff, which is overrun with songs about "how great i am and how terrible you are".
Posted by: roy at January 12, 2007 04:48 PMThat thing is great...hard to stop listening when you look at the playlist along with it. The DJ/MC/whatever should stop talking over it though...
"BLACK DUDE YELLING!"
