I actually agree with him, for the most part. hmmm

Jason: (Boca Raton, FL): What do you make of the talk that Tom Brady's body language during games demonstrates how unhappy he is with the organization for letting key players go and that it is rubbing off on his teammates?
Bill Simmons: (12:14 PM ET ) here's my question: is he supposed to have good body language? The guy took less money to stay and his starting WR's last Sunday were Reche Caldwell and Troy Brown. Putting myself in his shoes, I would be flipping out right now. I think he's handled everything pretty well actually. Let's hope he doesn't snap and give an interview about his co-workers to the Big Lead.
Posted by: Pat at September 27, 2006 02:59 PMI have yet to read the chat, but that seems to be a pretty unsolicited shot.
Posted by: John at September 27, 2006 04:07 PMWhitlock does come offf pretty level-headed in his comments, but it doesn't change what his comments are doing - he got fired for talking trash about his company, but rather than address that he's simply talking more trash. Sure, it's not an incendiary tone he's taking, but he's shifting the blame and making himself out to be a victim. Guess what - go public with your company's dirty laundry, and you don't get to be in the company anymore.
And his whole "I care about the journalism, not the TV spots" comes off as macho posturing at best, sour grapes at worst. And since when has he been a journalist? His columns were opinion pieces at best...I've yet to see any hard-core sports reporting out of him. Maybe in the old days, pre-ESPN, but PTI and Page 2 contains very little journalism, very much opinon, supposition, and conjecture.
So, sure, he sounds like he's making a point. But he's really just refusing to own up to a mistake under the guise of victimization. All of us work with someone we think is a douche, but voicing that in a national forum never removes the other guy - it just makes you the douche.
