More than meets the eye

I loved the Dinobots.

I had rock lords as a kid. Several of them - probably doubles of most. The playtime storyline went like this:

- Bad guy is walking through field full of rocks.
- Passes a few rocks.
- Rocks turn into robots, surprising bad guy, battle ensues.

I had lots of GoBots, lots of Transformers. DinoBots were kind of off, to me, I never was a big fan. I was into the planes, especially the maroon and black one. Can't remember it's name. Dirge?

Oh, and apparently, the movie is a go for Thanksgiving. Production hasn't started, though, and it should take 18 months. So, probably 2007.

In the meantime, this appears to be a very rough screen test. Possibly it was SideSwipe's audition. I hear he's been waiting tables at the Olive Garden in Whittier, so this role would really help him out. Plus he's already a giant robot that can disguise himself as a car, so that's a bonus.

I had a shitload of Transformers & Gobots as a kid, thanks to my grandmother always buying them for me at garage sales. At one point, I think I had 3 Optimus Primes, plus an extra trailer. While they were all cool, I tend to agree with this guy's opinion on the dinobots. What the hell was the point? They couldn't hide anywhere, just turn into a giant, metallic extinct creature. Didn't they make up for that by making the dinobots invincible when they were transformed into dinosaurs?
