Sort of like Memento. Or my Sunday mornings.
I hate the Steelers. This is still funny. Obey.
Candy review via the scenic route.
You and your student loan.
Best Top Gun trailer ever.
Ridiculously long, but interesting. A woman dresses up to "pass" as a man. And learn something about our crappy culture I suppose. Probably more generous towards men than it should be.
Stewie to host talk show.
Now you can simulate having a girlfriend without having to go to the trouble of getting laid.
Another way sex is good for you. In related news, I will continue to drink heavily and consume a diet that consists entirely of taco bell and gummy bears.
Do I even have a job anymore? I think it's pretty obvious that I don't.
Posted by John at January 27, 2006 11:42 AMCollege and money makes me so pissed off. All colleges should be not-for-profit institutions, and all student loans should be designed only to sustain the lending process. Anything resembling a profit by either a college or a lender should be immediately used to directly improve facilities, staff, or quality of student life - because it's fucking education. It's completely insane that college costs as much as it does, and I say this as someone whose tuition was paid for, yet still owes about 12,000.
Posted by: Chris at January 27, 2006 12:52 PMThis is crap. If sense of humor was so important, why did so many people watch Two and a Half Men? "Spaniards were the most likely to use sex to catch someone's attention." So, um, why are you still trying to impress the person if you've already had sex with them. Hasn't that ship sailed? How does the conversation go?
Guy: How was it for you?
Girl: It was alright.
Guy: No it wasn't, it was awesome. You were impressed. Statistics don't lie. 80% of Spanish men are above average at sex.
Anyway, when I write my novel about the sexually gifted stand-up comic, I promise to distribute my wealth graciously.
If senses of humor were really that attractive, we'd have chapped skin, you know, down there and collar-popping hair-gel dudes would be crying into their pitchers of warm flat beer. But no.
Are 80% of Spanish men above average at sex? Isn't that impossible, since only 50% could be better than average? I guess it doesn't matter - I read a study other day that said 83.4% of all statistics are made up to suit the autor's needs anyway.
Posted by: Chris at January 27, 2006 03:27 PMThat Top Gun 2 trailer was missing the "I'll be your wingman anytime" line - it would've been classic.
And yeah, I don't like hearing about Sallie Mae execs becoming billionaires. I'm paying twice the minimum payment on my loans, and I'm still not going to get them paid off until I'm 34.
Posted by: Rick at January 27, 2006 04:07 PMwhile reading the article on sallie may pissed me off and i think many facets of universities are mismanaged, i don't think it's so simple just to change things and regulate them as not for profit. the rippled effect might be large (motivation for companies to lend money, quality of faculty an institution could attract, etc.) there was a time when higher education was only open to the wealthy. student loans make higher education possible for a great many people. it's not clear to me that higher education is a right that should be funded by the government (as i think earlier education is) and so it comes with costs.
