"Terps' leading scorer McCray lost for season"
Posted by John at January 23, 2006 04:32 PMSeriously, how do you screw up that badly? It's not like this could have been a surprise to McCray or the team. This is retarded.
In other news, prepare to scream "Who?" a whole lot more.

or Israel
or South America somewhere...
I think we can legitimately blame Roy for this. Wasn't he a tutor for the athletic department, shouldn't he have ensured that no matter what, our elite athletes will never fail a class, regardless of how few classes they attend?
Posted by: Mike at January 24, 2006 12:13 PMI do not think it is a coincidence that as soon as Roy announces he is leaving UMD, McCray is ruled academically ineligible. Roy began to mail it in long ago, and it is presently just getting out to the public. So Pat, I wouldn't count on filling any head coaching vacancies any time soon.
Posted by: John at January 24, 2006 01:05 PMHaving worked for the academic support unit in the athletic department and as an instructor who had athletes in class I've seen from both sides what the athletic department does with students and with instructors. They go to extreme lengths to keep athletes eligible. I hold McCray accountable - he's a senior, he knows the rules, and he ought to know his cumulative GPA and what he needed to do to stay eligible.
