Warning: Not for the squeamish
So, this morning at work, I took apart one of our computers because the DVD drive wasn't working (I'm our IT department). It's a pretty new computer, and it was very clean on the inside - not the accumulation of dust that you normally see. There was one clump of dust, though, that caught my eye. It looked like a long thing dust bunny, which struck me as odd since everything else in the computer was so clean. So, since I usually try to clean out the dust when I open up the computers, I grabbed this dust bunny and pulled it out of the computer. A small piece of it broke off, but I'd get that next. Only once I got the dust bunny out and got a better look at it, it had fur... and bones. It was the dried up carcass of a young mouse. The piece that broke off was the skull. Ugh.
So, I did what any good nerd father would do - I wrapped it up in a paper towel so that I can take it home to show it to my daughter - give her a mini anatomy lesson before I throw the thing out.
Posted by Fatboy at November 3, 2005 03:44 PMDid you superglue the skull back on before showing it to Alex, or did you have to explain that you just happened to rip the mouse's head off?
If you want her to get into anatomy and such, have her watch Bones on Fox. It looks craptacular.
Posted by: Rick at November 3, 2005 04:51 PMWhen I lived in Annapolis I was cleaning my Bronco out. Saw lots of torn up paper, thought, "who the fuck is tearing up paper in my truck?" Unfolded the fold-flat seats - I always needed the cargo space - and found another wad of paper. Grabbed for the wad, noticed it was warm. Realized it was a mouse nest. Three living baby mice were in the wad of old torn Powerbar wrappers and Mapquest printouts.
So, I threw them out the back hatch of the truck into the parking lot. In seconds - honestly, I hadn't even looked away - birds swooped right down and grabbed them. Lunch was served, baby.
