So, I know I posted last week regarding Yale closing down tailgates early for the Harvard game.... Well, now there is this gem of an idea from Hawaii.
So, the gist of the article is that they want to ban all alcohol from parking lots b/c of unruly behavior in a "family environment." It then goes on to say that they will continue to sell beer inside the stadium.
Um......

Posted by: Nate at November 2, 2005 02:17 PMMy nominee for the stupidest thing ever written:
"Vendors who sell beer and food at the 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium had spoken against banning alcohol inside the stadium, saying it would hurt their sales."
No freaking shit. I regularly drink, oh, I dunno, 5 beers per baseball game. Do you think that if they stopped selling beer, I would drink 5 sodas? Of course it's going to hurt sales. If it weren't for my horse . . .
Posted by: John at November 2, 2005 02:47 PMI think that sentence was supposed to read "Vendors who sell beer in the parking lots/outside of the stadium" instead of just "at." They think banning inside will hurt sales outside, which makes no sense to me. If you can't keep a mild buzz going, you need a substantial one that lasts at least past halftime. Which means much more pre-drinking than before.
