Big Brother

Just by supplying some basic information to this website, you can find out quite a bit of information. Property values, for example. Or an employment history. For example, I am listed as the following:
John Albers at World Adult Kickball Association
Newsletter Co-Editor - John Albers

Which would be a great job, especially if it paid.

My name did not come up in any state in which I have ever lived or worked.

And you get in for kickball. I am so lame.

Speaking of Big Brother, I just read an article on news@nature.com on how the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) had just cracked the dot code that's printed by certain Xerox printers onto every page that they print. The code contains information such as when the document was printed, and the serial number of the printer. By working with the printer manufacturers and vendors, government agencies can determine who printed those documents. Here's more detail on the EFF website, and a list of other printers that print out such codes.
