CarterCopter on Slashdot

Thanks to a phone call from Rick this morning, I learned that the CarterCopter website had made it onto slashdot. Now I feel like we've really accomplished something. But it also means that our site's getting flooded with traffic, so it's hard to get into.

Yeah, I figured your email would be down. But congrats on getting on /. With you on slashdot, and Pat getting a Fark link, I don't know what's left for me. Maybe I'll go postal and get on CNN.

Our e-mail's doing just fine. It's our website that's slow. Actually, I think it's running okay, now. I guess the initial surge is over. We don't do anything locally that's internet related. Mail servers and web servers are provided by our ISP. I'm sure that the mail server is a separate computer with a separate connection from the web server.

I just checked our website stats this morning. For the past two months, we'd been getting about 3000 page views per day (20,000 hits per day). Thanks to the slashdot posting yesterday, we got 204,286 page views (1,210,455 hits). That's just about doulbe our previous monthly high this past April, all in one day.
