IQs...again

Here I am again, talking this trash. Anyway, I saw a banner ad on Allmusic for a free test, figured "what the hell," so I took it. The reported score is lower than I've ever recieved - 133 - so I don't like the test anymore. I blame their domain name of Tickle.com: not one to inspire me to respecct their intelligence. I wouldn't take any stock in an internet IQ test whatsoever, but check out what they had to say about me:

"Your Intellectual Type is Insightful Linguist. This means you are highly intelligent and have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind."

Writing? Artist? Visual/Spatial strenghts? Pretty good work, IQ test. If you want to give it a go, it took about 10 minutes. We can have a reported-score-pissing-contest. Also, I'd like to see if you feel it gauged your brain as well as it did mine.

There's one question with four squares full of colored shapes, and you have to guess which is next. I think I did it right, but I remember it was the most confusing one. So look for that.

So, I did another one where I selected either randomly, or just plain wrong. The test was, for some reason, considerably shorter, and even though I probably blew every one, it told me I was an 83. Maybe because I did it quickly. Here's what they had to say:

"Your Intellectual Type is Word Warrior. This means you have exceptional verbal skills. You can easily make sense of complex issues and take an unusually creative approach to solving problems. Your strengths also make you a visionary. Even without trying you're able to come up with lots of new and creative ideas."

They even nailed the "without even trying" part! They must be psychic!

I just found a partial answer key on a sample report...I was right about the four square dealie. Sweet.

And, the sample report was for someone with a score of 91. The test likened them to Socrates. Right. Why don't they tell the truth: 91s are, like, Tom Arnold.

I want to make a "something" linguist joke. But I won't. But I want to.

I almost did that too. I figured Nate would step in.

here's what i got...
Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

How did you feel about your number, Shell? You don't have to share, but I'm curious if you feel, like I do, that it was lower than it should have been.

the number was 135. probably appropriate for me...i dunno, i've never taken a real IQ test. what do you think? 135 sound about right?

You're smarter than Chris - sounds about right to me. ZING! (just kidding)

For the record, also a 133. A Facts Curator. This means you are highly intelligent and have picked up an impressive and unique collection of facts and figures over the years. You've got a remarkable vocabulary and exceptional math skills — which puts you in the same class as brainiacs like Bill Gates.

I have never had an IQ test - this is good enough for me. Although the Bill Gates comment is odd. Do gambling stats count as "facts and figures"? Like double digit home underdogs are 25-8 ATS in the last month? HA!

So I, the English nerd, get praised for my writing skills, Michelle gets lauded for her "powerful mix of skills and insight," which sounds an awful lot like something a doctor should have, and Pat, with a freaking Econ degree, gets props for his math skills and even, by invoking Gates, ability to deal with money. That's pretty good. Now, if we can get John to take it and it comes back with "Urban Racounteur: you enjoy hip-hop and Sloe Gin," then I will be scared.

Can't we just have an actual pissing contest. Something involving an clown's mouth and an inflating baloon? I am a "Raging Alcoholic" my IQ was Bacardi 151.
Ok, it was 135; Visionary Philosopher.
According to this site I also have a sarcastic sense of humor. Shocker.
