Here is the link for the court documentation. I suppose it is still simply an accusation. The list of this kind of scandal amongst conservatives is extensive. The Post article mentions Limbaugh & Bennet, but there was Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde, Bob Packwood, Joe Scarborough even the Governator. What adults do is their own business, but it is hypocrisy to advocate family values and castigate those who don't adhere to your sense of morality when the critics themselves can't even practice what they preach. Lest we forget O'Reilly used to host Inside Edition, and now he is appearing on it.

The accusations sure are specific, but they're just that at the moment. I can't think any sane person with as much to lose as O'Reilly would ever say some of the things that are included in those accusations.

Either way, there's still a lot that has to get proved - any phone conversations the alleged victim taped will not be able to be used as evidence, so the victim may have to rely on a friend of hers who heard O'Reilly make some statements at one occasion.

I think the following assertion in the Post article may be false: "In New York, it is illegal to tape a phone conversation without the other party's consent." From what I gather, New York is a one-party consent state, and this seems to be asserted around the internet. Because the internet never lies.

There isn't really anything in O'Reilly's "preaching" that he could "practice." His ultra-antagonistic, ultra-conservative persona is just that - a persona. He has the capacity to be a well reasoned, objective observer. He's done it before he hit it big as a mouthpiece for Ailes on Fox NotNews, and his appearance on The Daily Show two weeks ago - in summation, "I never said I'd vote for Bush or not vote for Kerry, I'm an undecided voter and there are things about both candidates I like and dislike" - are further evidence that he is, at best, able to think rationally, and, at worst, is an actor.

Regardless, he is duplicitous and disingenous - and those are the two nicest things I will ever say about him. I'm sure he truly posesses the monstrous ego he relects in every appearance, and I'm sure he did all the things this woman said he did. I'm sure of this, because I'm sure he's a bastard. That's why he did all this, Rick: he isn't a rational thinker. In his mind, he's Bill Fucking O'Reilly, and he can get away with murder.
