I know some of you HATE it when political stuff ends up on this website, but I don't believe this is that polarizing. There are now mailings to voters implying that Liberals will ban bibles if elected, in West Virginia of all places. Just as I was feeling alright about the state after our visit.
Yeah, this was pretty asinine. A follow-up article* makes the point that this campaign tactic may give pause to swing voters who could feel alienated by the relatively extreme assertions put out.
And for those politically inclined, feel free to check out the Electoral Vote Predictor website, which updates daily with the latest polls on who will win this year. Also note that according to the not-always-reliable Survey USA, Maryland has just become a swing state for this election with both Bush and Kerry tied at 48%.

Posted by: Rick at September 24, 2004 02:51 PMalong the lines of "funny if it weren't so sad" please check out this website with FAQ regarding voting in maryland. especially funny is the alcoholic beverages being served on election day. so very interesting....
Posted by: michelle at September 24, 2004 03:38 PMIrma and I were in Bora Bora on the European Union election day. They couldn't serve alcohol. Good thing we had taken a bottle of rum with us to make our own drinks.
Posted by: fatboy at September 24, 2004 04:10 PMSociety is so stupid. Think of how many people would show up to vote if alcohol were offered at the polling places.
Posted by: John at September 27, 2004 02:39 PMMy dad tells a story about when he was younger and worked on various campaigns. They'd go around and find homeless people, vagrants, or anyone else they thought they could convince to vote their way, drive them to the polling place, and when they were done, hand out bottles of liquor from the trunk of the car. You're right John, imagine what our voter turnout numbers would be if this still happened.
