Less than three weeks to go before our 6 pm kickoff against Northern Illinois. Everything is pretty much standard from the last couple of years. Please throw money for beer, bring food, yadda yadda yadda. Check out the Tailgating Page to get all of the information (note the location change).
A couple of other items of business regarding extended football boozing:
1 - The idea has been tossed around that we have themed tailgates. They can either be themed for a beverage, food, or costume. Please suggest some in the comments, I am not a creative person. Also, please remember that if we do a costume, that we have to go to the game as well..
2- Chad and I are working on this year's t-shirt. Rick will have his pants on in this version. In keeping with the Under Armour takeover of Maryland (this is the commercial), we figured we would try to make the t-shirt have a similar theme. Here are some possible ideas, please vote on them and comment below. Also, let us know if you even want one. They will probably be between $12 and $15, XL, red and probably have a logo on the front with wording on the back.
Long post, sorry, but further updates will come as we see what we need and who will be attending. Cool, thanks.
Posted by Pat at August 16, 2004 03:13 PMYeah, since I'm not going to wear the shirt, my vote shouldn't really count. But I voted for the I like beer. Maybe it's cause I moved away before the Under Armour thing, but those first 3 just didn't do anything for me. And if you all decide to have costume themed tailgates, well, I can't think of anything clever, but it's pretty gay.
Posted by: fatboy at August 16, 2004 06:58 PMAs long as the theme is "get drunk, shout obscenities at anyone rooting for other teams, freeze my balls off, and drink more" I'm good. I'm not one for orchestrated apparel.
Posted by: Chris at August 17, 2004 02:25 AMi'd like to suggest country themed tailgates. no, not country like the type of music i like to listen to. country as in, we pick the country and supply food and beverages to match it. dos equis and quesadillas for mexico, etc. no matter what i'll be happy just to be out and about drinking (i do put up a big fat nay to the costume idea just cause i think it'd be uncomfy to wear them in the stadium post-tailgating). my tolerance is VERY low boys. i'm talking like 2 beers and i can feel it.
Posted by: michelle at August 18, 2004 05:44 PMSee, Shell, that's the exact type of idea we aren't interested in. There's no angle. It's too wholesome, predictable, and almost educational>. And we don't get drunk for twelve hours on a college campus in support of education.
But it is a good starting point: I recommend Sterotype Days. We can do one for each country of our alleged origins. We can do Dutch Day for me, and everyone can wear wooden shoes, carry around tulips, build dams, and shoot heroin. We can do Irish Day for Mike, which entails getting piss drunk, pissing ourselves, and beating the piss out of each other. John and Rick get White Guy Day, since I have no idea where "Albers" or "Nelson" is from. We'll eat corn on the cob and balance accounts receivable against accounts payable. For Roy, we'll stamp out Apartheid and eat...um...what's a good South African dish?
Well, you see where I'm going. It's only fun if it's potentially offensive and borderline racist.
