$15 Martini

I heard one of those Washington Post radio commercials on the way into work, so I had to look up the article regarding $15 martinis. Add another 10 bars to my "do not visit" list. Without loan paperwork, of course. 6 pack of Natural Light - $3.85.

Liquor is getting ricockulous. I was at a pseudo-club in DC on Saturday, and drinks like Tom Collins and Midori Sours were $7 a pop. I've noticed beers, while still a little pricey, aren't rising in price (thank God). It was still $4 for a Miller Lite there. The fun part is I would watch them grab a can out of a 30-pack and then they'd hand it to me (no glass).

"an apple martini with a splash of Calvados brandy is $15 (although it does come on a silver tray holding three bowls of Asian snacks)."
- Oh really? Do I get to keep the tray? Who the hell cares what kind of god damn tray someone brings their drinks out on? How about you charge me 5 dollars for the drink, pour the drink into one of those crappy red tinted plastic glasses they have at Pizza Hut, and bring it out to me on a napkin.

"They don't mind spending that for a martini. What they really complain about," he says, with a laugh, "is the cost of a beer. They don't want to spend six bucks on a beer."
- That is because, chances are, the people ordering the beer are broke. Sure I could order one shot of grain alcohol or gasoline and get drunker for less money, but what would I do for the rest of the 90 minutes I am going to be in the bar, besides lump against a wall and sing along to whatever Usher song happens to be on at the moment.

"Jessica Simpson and her husband were in the bar the other night. They ordered a kamikaze. I couldn't remember the last time someone ordered that."
- We order kamikazes all the time. I am that much closer to sleeping with Jessica Simpson.

Rick - I still can't imagine you in a club. I don't think they let in people wearing a button down shirt, shorts, and brown socks up to their knees.

I don't believe I saw one person pay $15 for a drink in "Night at the Roxbury."
