Billick has hired one of his best friends as, apparently, an adviser/assistant coach. Didn't we (they) just lose the secondary coach? Does Fassel know a damn thing about DBs?
I never really liked Fassel - he seems to never really get things done (okay, so he went to a Super Bowl once) and only talks/acts tough when his ass is on the line. Regardless, I see the Ravens in the playoffs again next year...while certain teams that will remain unnamed (*cough* Steelers *cough* Dolphins) continue their proud traditions of sitting on their asses once week 18 rolls around. Eat it. Division Champs.
Posted by Chris at February 4, 2004 12:09 PMHeh...I also just saw Marino bailed on the Fish...citing he didn't fully understand the "lifestyle change" the new job would have on him and his family. I think by "lifestyle change" he means "lost money from CBS and HBO."
Posted by: Chris at February 4, 2004 12:12 PMI don't know what the Ravens have to lose by hiring Fassel. You can't take nothing from nothing and the Raven's O was in fact a big fat zero.
Posted by: John at February 4, 2004 01:20 PM..And he is a very good offensive mind. He did a lot in Denver for a long time and had the Giants O scoring some points. They would've scored a lot more if Tiki remembered he needed to take the ball with him inside the5 yard line and if Kerry went back on the sauce...
Posted by: Nate at February 4, 2004 01:28 PMThe more people with more experience in different parts of the game, the better, in my opinion. He is assistant head coach. Judging from his interview with Dan Patrick, sounds like it is probably just right for him and for the Ravens -- more of a consultant's role.
Easy on the Division champs thing...I know my team is a bunch of folding chairs, but the 'Fins had the same record, just in the wrong divison. They would have tied if in the same division (before tie breakers). Ravens division opponents were 19-29. Next year they should schedule the Redskins 15 more times to ensure a better record.
Posted by: Pat at February 4, 2004 03:25 PMAnd don't forget, the Ravens biggest divisional rival was...THE BENGALS....granted, a much better team than in years past, but still a .500 club. At least the 'phins could say the only games they lost in their division were to the eventual super bowl champs.
Posted by: Nate at February 4, 2004 03:40 PMI doubt anyone would argue that the Ravens are a more talented football team than the Dolphins or the Redskins. I suppose that is the difference between an under-achiever and an over-achiever.
Posted by: John at February 4, 2004 06:12 PMI would argue - and Nate agrees - that the Ravens are more talented than the Dolphins.
