I know that I don't have to tell many of the people around this site that the Super Bowl is next Sunday. If you want to keep up with what is happening this week in Houston, and don't want to read column after column about key matchups, and zone defense, check out The Sports Guy and his Super Blog. I know many of us read him anyway, but I think this is a pretty novel concept. 2-3 articles a day about both the game, and the work he is doing on Jimmy Kimmel's show. Could possibly be the best week of Simmons, especially since the Pats are in the game.
That being said, are there any early predictions for the game? Because I am sure you all care about my prediction, I'll throw out an upset with: Panthers 27, Patriots 24.
Posted by Pat at January 26, 2004 01:20 PMI maintain my Super Bowl prediction of Indy 35, Philly 17.
Seriously, I say no way Carolina can score 27, and I say no way Belechik (sp?) lets his team lose...despite my wanting to see Carolina win. So I go Pats 27, Carolina 16. And Delhomme throws for less than 175 yds.
Posted by: Chris at January 26, 2004 01:34 PMI am starting to get nervous because I think that Carolina is becoming a trendy pick. Nonetheless, I'll take Carolina 23 NE 13
Posted by: John at January 26, 2004 01:56 PMI agree with the trendiness of the pick. But I told Chad (during slurring sessions) that Carolina is better than people give them credit for. Maybe 27 is too high, but perhaps that is just what I want to see, so it isn't a 14-3 snoozefest.
Posted by: Pat at January 26, 2004 02:48 PMevery time there's a two-week lag from championship games to super bowl, the underdog always becomes a trendy pick for a few days. i agree with chris - I'll take pats 26, panthers 17.
Posted by: Roy at January 26, 2004 07:20 PMLike the Sports Guy, I too am undefeated in the playoffs...at least as far as picks go, I don't dare do spreads. But aw hell...I like New England 20-17...
