Duke

So tonight is the game of games. Home game vs. Duke. At the risk of enraging Mr. Fisher, I just wanted to share some decent articles I found this morning on tonight's matchup.

  • This one from The Baltimore Sun chronicles the rivarlry all the way back to 1980 with quotes from my grandfather's good friend Jack Zane.
  • This is your standard Washington Post article that they write every year.
  • An article from Rick Snider at the Washington Times. Too much Dickie (Dukie) V talk, but he is a pretty solid Maryland writer. His column tomorrow will usually be good the day after when he chronicles what he saw at Comcast (old players, celebrities).
  • And here is a little love from Mr. PTI himself Tony Kornheiser.
  • There is a chat at noon today with Barry Svrluga, Terps beat reporter.

So read everything, get ready for the game, and remember that Dick Vitale is doing the game on ESPN tonight. Try to get Johnny Holiday and Chris Knoche (with his porn star mustache) on your radio, and avoid the inevitable frustration you will get from Vitale.
Oh, and, currently we are 4 1/2 point underdogs if anyone has notions of wagering on this game (or needs a heart attack).

remember the good ol' days when the duke game was in the spring semester after classes stared? people sleeping out for tickets, the whole campus was electric, and students made valentine's signs showing dickie v and coach k? thanks to mrs. boozer and the aquafina bottle, those days are done forever. sigh.

And I don't know if he was bullshitting or not, but Scott Van Pelt (Sports Center anchor) made mention on S.C. last night that he would be at Bentley's before the game...I thought it was funny.

nah, i think it was the violence in cole, rather than outside of cole, that caused the scheduling change, but i have no data to back that up, just my opinion, in this, the longest, most comma filled sentence, i could write.
