Upgrade coming

Okay kids, I've moved the files on this site to a new server. I could go into nerdy details, but basically, rather than configure everything for the new server, testing it, then changing it all back, I just updated the nameservers so that when you type in 'terrapintables.com' it'll point to the new server rather than the old one. It should work okay, but who knows. It'll take about 2-3 days for the DNS servers to update, so every post made between now and then will be lost. Sorry about that. Unless someone is good at moving SQL databases, that's the way it's gonna be :)

Oh yeah, and if you have any important emails, back them up. The new server does not use the same mail system (rather, it uses several clients that you can choose from, all of which are much better than the one we were using). Since I have to set up new accounts, your password will be the last 4 digits of your cell phone number. So when you email password starts to not work, try your cell phone number password.

Seeing as how I had the same deal as TerrapinTables.com, and it's coming up on when I need to renew my account, I am intersted in the nerdy details. Is this a switch to a new host, or a switch to Affordable Host's CPanel account?

To save most of the posts, I have two questions/suggestions. 1.) Did you just copy everything from the one server to the other? If you did, you can just wait until you notice that the DNS servers point to the new server, and then copy everything over to that. 2.) Can you access the site on the new server now? For instance, the current site can be accessed at http://titan.affordablehost.com/~terrapintables.com/. If you can access the new server this way, you can make the homepage of the current server redirect to that server.

When you upgrade to the CPanel account, they put you on a new server. Not only that, but if you want to stay with AH have to transfer the domain because AH's old registrar (AffordableDOTS) somehow got taken over by some other weird registar... even though AffordableDOTS is still up and I just paid them to transfer (more info. So it's like going to a whole new host. Copying the files is no problem... you have to redo all the permissions though (chmod). I guess I could do that. That way the site will only be down for an hour or so. But yeah, the redirect way won't work without me editing a bunch of setup files, since the new logon page will be on a different server than the database.
