The benefits of a deficit

As many of you know, the University of Maryland is undergoing drastic budget cuts to try to balance the budget yada yada yada. This affects all departments, but particularly those that are already in debt, such as the folks who manage the university's energy consumption. So what have they decided to do to cut costs? Raise the thermostats in each building (except necessary labs and libraries) to a nice, comfortable, relaxing 78 degrees. No more freezing in the office for me!

Or you could just get some warm blood in your body and quit your bitchin'!

(then raise tuition 21%)

You're laughing now Roy, but what's going to happen in a few months when the thermostat reads 60 degrees because they couldn't afford to heat the place? You'll wish they raised tuition 42%.

Roy, you should just get your giant barrel-sized garbage can now so you can have it to start fires in this winter. Mmmm . . . smores.

first of all, you're all haters. second of all, it doesn't cost anything to heat the place in the summer and my hope is that they'll save so much money in the summer by not air conditioning that they'll have a surplus in the winter so they can spend the money on heating the place, creating a deficit, so that next summer they won't be able to afford air conditioning, so will set the temperature high, etc
